'Save Agusan watershed'
SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur, Philippines – An estimated 4,000 people from all walks of life joined a “motor caravan” last Saturday to call attention to the need to save the Mt. Magdiwata watershed from illegal miners and timber poachers.
Some 200 vehicles, including 10-wheeler trucks, joined the caravan around this town, ending up at the foot of Mt. Magdiwata.
In an ecumenical Mass that kicked off the caravan, Butuan Bishop Juan de Dios Pueblos challenged Agusan folk to be vigilant in saving the watershed, which he described as a “gift from God.”
