9 Bataan jail guards face charges
MANILA, Philippines – The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) is reading charges against nine jail guards in Bataan who were implicated in the alleged maltreatment of inmates last week.
BJMP Director Rosendo Dial ordered the relief of the nine jail guards, who were reassigned effective yesterday to the BJMP-Region 3 office pending the filing of administrative and criminal charges against them.
Relieved were Senior Inspector Junteddy Madria, Inspector Jose Ariel Santos, SJO4 Oliver Baraero, SJO2 Richard Balinagay, SJO1 Florante Evangelista, JO1 Jefferson Damokling, JO1 Jun Alunday, JO1 Louie Quejado, and JO1 Alberto Agpad Jr.
Dial issued the instruction after Directorate for Investigation and Prosecution recommended the relief and filing of appropriate charges against the erring personnel.
“The personnel are facing charges for conduct grossly prejudicial to the best interest of the service as provided for under the BJMP Manual Revised 2007,” said Senior Inspector Roberto Gotico, chief of the BJMP-Community Relations Service.
