LA UNION, Philippines – Police have created a special task force to conduct a thorough investigation into the killings of a barangay chairwoman and a kagawad (councilman) in Bacnotan, La Union last weekend.
Senior Superintendent Ramon Purugganan, La Union police director, said the task force would go after the killers of barangay chairwoman Eulogia Arellano and kagawad Francisco Hermosa who incidentally were both vying for the chairmanship of Barangay San Martin.
“We are having difficulty trying to establish the motive in the killings. With Arellano and Hermonsa both dead, no one would directly benefit from the attack. So we are digging deeper into the matter,” Purugganan told The STAR.
