CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – A total of 30 Batangas cops will undergo retraining today at the Philippine National Police training school in Clark Field, Pampanga.
Chief Superintendent Nicanor Bartolome, Calabarzon police director, said the policemen from the Tuy municipal police station in Batangas, including town police chief, Chief Inspector Jose Coz will start the Police Capability Enhancement Training (PCET) in line with the directive of newly-installed PNP chief Director General Raul Bacalzo.
Bartolome said Bacalzo announced the retraining and training of personnel, starting with his hometown in Tuy, Batangas during his recent assumption of PNP chief. He said the refresher course is aimed to develop camaraderie and unity among uniformed personnel and will strengthen their teamwork. He said they will be provided with the basic police knowledge as well as new policies attuned to the times.
In a phone interview, Bartolome told The STAR that new equipment and armaments will be provided to Tuy police. He said upon the completion of the training course, the Tuy police force composed of two commissioned officers and 28 non-commissioned, will return to their respective units and reassume their former posts.
Bartolome said Coz was replaced by Senior Inspector Maximo Gomez, as acting chief of police, while lawmen from the Batangas Police Command will be sent to replace the Tuy police force.
Mayor Jey Cerrado expressed his support for the program of Bacalzo and Bartolome.
