Chinese meted life term for operating shabu lab

Iligan City, Philippines  – A Chinese national was meted life imprisonment and fined P10 million after he was found guilty of violating Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act for manufacturing shabu.

Judge Arthur Abundiente, of the Regional Trial Court Misamis Oriental 10th Judicial Region, convicted Li Yong Le, with aliases Jack Chua and Anthony So, for maintaining a shabu laboratory complete with equipment, paraphernalia and various chemicals which the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, led by then Region 10 director Rene Orbe, raided on Dec. 13, 2004 in Loguillo, Alubijid, Misamis Oriental.

Li was arrested together with another Chinese national, Ling Jun Xion, alias Peter Yu, during the raid. Ling, however, was acquitted.
