2 guards injured in business center robbery
Camp Vicente Lim, Laguna, Philippines – Two security guards were wounded when unidentified suspects robbed a business center in Dasmariñas, Cavite yesterday morning, police said.
Superintendent Marcus Badilla, Dasmariñas police chief identified the victims as Melgin Taladua and Paulo Lamoste of Elosia Security Agency.
Badilla said at least four robbers fled with a still undetermined amount of cash when they struck the business center at around 10:50 a.m.
Initial investigation showed that the thieves robbed a bank paying station at the basement area of the establishment.
Probers said the two security guards, who escorted the bank’s employees to load an automated teller machine, were shot in the gunfight.
Badilla said the victims were rushed to Asia Medic Hospital in Dasmariñas for treatment. They were in stable condition as of press time.
Investigators held the van’s driver for further investigation.
The police have yet to determine the amount of money taken by the suspects.
Chief Superintendent Nic Bartolome, police director of Region 4-A, ordered a manhunt against the suspects.
He said the police have recovered several kilometers from the crime scene the L300 getaway van that was used by the robbers.
