ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A policeman, his wife and teenage son were killed while 23 others were wounded on Sunday when a pick-up truck rammed into a passenger bus along the highway in Vitali district, 80 kilometers east of this city, authorities said.
Police said the Hilux truck driven by SPO1 Henry Kapitanya smashed into the Rural Transit bus at around 5:30 p.m., killing the policeman, his wife Perlita and their 15-year-old son Jerry Michael.
Twenty-three passengers of the bus sustained injuries.
Investigation showed that the pick-up truck, which was bound for Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay from this city, lost control, swerved to the other lane and rammed into the incoming bus, which in turn was en route to this city from Dipolog City.
