Singer shot dead in Bataan

BALANGA CITY, Philippines – A singer was killed inside a newly opened bar and restaurant by a lone gunman who shot him at close range while talking with one of female customers the other night.

Senior Superintendent Arnold Gunnacao, Bataan police director, identified the fatality as Elizon Cruz, 38, of Sitio Pagibig, Upper Tuyo, Balanga City.

The victim, a vocalist of Dishes and Drinks Videoke Bar located at the City’s commercial district in Capitol Road, Barangay San Jose, this City, about 300 meters away from the provincial capitol compound, was shot by the suspect three times using a.45 caliber automatic pistol while sitting in a dimly lit section of the bar and restaurant.

Cruz suffered fatal gunshot wounds in the body. He was brought to nearby Bataan General Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physician.

According to witnesses, the suspect even greeted the victim for his outstanding performance then immediately pulled the handgun tucked in his waist and shot Cruz.

The unidentified gunman hurriedly left the establishment as the panicking customers rushed out of the exit door.

Police authorities are still evaluating the motives of the killing, one of them reportedly love triangle.

Several police teams were dispatched to nearby towns to arrest the suspect believed to be hiding in his relative’s house in the coastal area.
