'Insecticide omelet' kills Bataan couple

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines – Insecticide mistaken for flour and used in cooking eggplant omelet for breakfast proved fatal to a couple in Hermosa, Bataan.

Police said Victoria Sabado, 42, unknowingly used the insecticide used against termites in preparing the omelet last Thursday morning.

Sabado, her husband Ricardo, 48, and their two children, Rochelle Joy, 17, and Riyley James, 2, later suffered severe stomachache and heavy vomiting.

Ricardo died at the Bataan General Hospital, while his wife suffered cardiac arrest while being brought to the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) in Manila.

Their two children are still under treatment at PGH.
