PNRC getting ready for Taal evacuation
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Red Cross is now readying for possible forced evacuation of hundreds of families living in the municipalities near Taal volcano.
PNRC reported that six medical and evacuation teams are now on standby and preparing to evacuate Batangas residents once Phivolcs raise to three the alert level in Taal.
According to PNRC- Batangas chapter, municipalities within the seven-kilometer danger zone, including San Nicolas, Balete, Talisay, Agoncillo, Laurel and Mataas na Kahoy are likely to be affected by volcanic eruption.
Meanwhile, PNRC National Headquarters issued reminders on what to do before, during and after a volcanic eruption: This early, PNRC volunteers are reminding Batangas residents to stay away from low areas where landslide may occur, to keep first aid kits within reach and be ready for possible evacuation.
PNRC also called on the local government unit to strictly stop people from going to the areas near the volcanic eruption and to require people, particularly those suffering from lung diseases to stay in the evacuation center.
