Zambales mayor's brother gunned down

IBA, Zambales , Philippines  – A businessman brother of the mayor of Botolan town was gunned down here the other day, authorities said.

Police said the victim, Victor Yap, brother of Mayor Rogelio Yap, was cruising the national highway in Barangay Palanginan here aboard a Mitsubishi Pajero when armed men riding a Ford Everest van fired at him in front of the Land Transportation Office.

Yap, who was on his way to the southern part of the province, suffered bullet wounds in the head.

“My brother was shot in front of a lot of people. I ask the police to solve the case immediately,” Mayor Yap said.

Sangguniang Bayan secretary Noli Basul said the attackers pulled alongside Yap’s car and shot him four times in the head.
