Family driver yields cocaine worth P2.6 million
MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested yesterday a family driver who yielded a kilo of suspected cocaine with a street value of P2.6 million during a buy-bust operation in Cavite.
The suspect, Arnold Alima, 22, a resident of San Pablo City, Laguna, did not resist arrest when cornered in Barangay Tanzang Luma, Imus town at around 3:30 a.m. yesterday.
Chief Superintendent Rolando Añonuevo, Calabarzon police director, said Alima yielded four sachets containing cocaine and the marked money.
Añonuevo said combined elements of the Cavite police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency laid out the entrapment of Alima following reports that he was offering a kilo of cocaine to prospective buyers.
Alima was with two other suspects identified only as Nancy and Garcia when he showed up at the meeting place in Imus town.
Añonuevo said Nancy and Garcia escaped on board a black Honda Civic with license plate NAN 240 toward Aguinaldo Highway after realizing the arrest of Alima. – With Ed Amoroso
