Army man tagged in teen's slay surrenders

- Alexis Romero -

MANILA, Philippines - A soldier tagged in the killing of an 18-year-old student in Nueva Ecija last week has surrendered to authorities, the military said.

In a text message, Army spokesman Maj. Ronald Alcudia said Pvt. Reian Aligem, primary suspect in the killing of Eusebio Jardiel Jr., turned himself over to the 7th Infantry Division last Saturday.

Alcudia said the Headquarters Service Battalion and the 7th ID intelligence unit facilitated the surrender of Aligem, who is now detained at the Fort Magsaysay military police stockade.

Jardiel was reportedly shot along the Sta. Rosa-Dingalan Road in Barangay Mapalad, Sta. Rosa, Nueva Ecija. His body bearing three gunshot wounds was found some 150 meters away from an Army detachment.
