DASOL, Pangasinan , Philippines – Last May 4, the Commission on Elections notified regional election director Atty. Noli Pipo, Pangasinan election supervisor Atty. Reddy Balarbar, and Dasol election officer Myra Sajonas of its order to comment on a petition to place Dasol town under the poll body’s control.
Balarbar, in the exercise of his duties and functions, immediately requested Senior Superintendent Percival Barba, provincial police director, for augmentation troops deputized by the Comelec to be deployed in Dasol. The augmentation troops later arrived in Dasol.
Meanwhile, according to a recent report, a certain Crisanto Migano, a barangay kagawad in Egula, Dasol and said to be a campaign leader of Mayor Noel Nacar, allegedly shot Michael Bonzato, a campaign leader of Nacar’s opponent.
Reports said Migano was accompanied by three other men who were identified as Nacar’s alleged campaign monitors, identified as Bernardo Versoza, Eddie Moega Odu, and Efren Apolinar.
Bonzato said Apolinar was also allegedly carrying a gun during the incident. Based on initial police investigation, the incident is politically motivated and election-related.
Sajonas said the shooting incident is enough reason to put the town under Comelec control.
