Ex-Batangas governor rushed to hospital

BATANGAS , Philippines  – Former governor and Nacionalista Party gubernatorial candidate Armand Sanchez was rushed to the hospital after allegedly experiencing heat stroke while campaigning in Lipa City yesterday afternoon.

Superintendent George Dadulo, Lipa City police chief said Sanchez was about to meet the employees, officers and some of his supporters in Ladeco Feedmill Inc. in Barangay Sabang when he suddenly lost consciousness around 1:30 p.m.

Sanchez was rushed to Mary Mediatrix Hospital for treatment.

According to Earline Borlongan, customer relations of Mary Mediatrix Hospital, they could not give any medical bulletin as of presstime as per instruction of Sanchez’s wife Sto Tomas town mayor Edna Sanchez.

Borlongan said Sanchez likewise prohibited all visitors, well wishers, media including close relatives in entering the hospital to maintain their privacy.

“We were not given any authority to announce any medical bulletin, only the wife of Gov. Sanchez will announce the health status of her husband” Borlongan said.

Unconfirmed reports said that San-chez could have experienced massive stroke that affected his brain and placed him in under comatose.

“We still have to wait for the confirmation of his doctors and family members for his real health status,” the source said. Sanchez is vying for the gubernatorial seat against actress turned politician Vilma Santos-Recto.
