Civil service exams set on April 25

- Michael Punongbayan -

MANILA, Philippines - Almost a hundred thousand individuals wanting a career in government will take the written examinations of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to be held in 33 testing centers nationwide on April 25.

Even after the disappointing results of the last civil service exams held last November where only 6,334, or 10.15 percent of the 62,389 takers, passed, the number of hopefuls for the April 25 test has increased by 46.25 percent.

The results of the previous career service exams made news since nine out of every 10 people who took them, or 56,055 individuals, actually flunked.

Lorelei Cabatu, chief of the CSC’s Examination, Recruitment and Placement Office, said takers found it most difficult to pass the analytical and mathematical parts of the exams.

For the professional level, Cabatu said examinees found it most difficult to pass the thinking ability part of the test.

Those who took the sub-professional level test, on the other hand, found the numerical or mathematical skills part as the most difficult followed by general ability questions.
