PANGASINAN , Philippines – A man said to be a supporter of a mayoral candidate was gunned down by bonnet-wearing suspects in Barangay Gueset Sur, San Manuel town last Sunday.
Police identified the victim as Romero Gorospe, 40, of Barangay Narra, also in San Manuel.
He succumbed to a bullet wound in the head.
Gorospe was a known supporter of mayoral candidate and retired Vice Admiral Virgilio Marcelo.
According to initial investigation, the victim, who just came from a wedding party, was driving a Nissan Urvan van when he was shot by still unidentified gunmen.
Six spent shells and a slug for a .45 caliber pistol were recovered at the crime scene.
