Another massacre suspect arrested
MANILA, Philippines - Police have arrested the 60th suspect in the massacre of 57 people in Maguindanao last Nov. 23.
Senior Superintendent Benito Estipona of Task Force Maguindanao said the suspect, Thong Guiamano, alias Ibrahim Kamal Tatak, was arrested in his house in Barangay Manong Kaling in Mamasapano town, Maguindanao last Thursday afternoon.
Guiamano, together with other civilian volunteers, “blocked the 57 victims at a checkpoint and brought them to the killing field,” said Estipona during a press briefing at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) headquarters.
He said Guiamano was nabbed by virtue of the arrest warrant issued by Quezon City Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes for multiple counts of murder.
Estipona, concurrent CIDG deputy director for operations, said 20 police tracker teams are still looking for 136 suspects, including 23 allies of the Ampatuan clan, 97 civilian volunteers, 13 policemen, and four soldiers.
