1 dead, 18 hurt in bus-truck collision in Laguna

Camp Vicente Lim, Laguna , Philippines  – One person died and 18 others were wounded in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a delivery truck in San Pablo City, Laguna province yesterday, police said.

Senior Superintendent Manolito Labador, Laguna police director, identified the fatality as Gerald Remedios, a resident of Barangay Antipolo del Sur, Lipa City, Batangas.

Labador said a Raymond Transportation bus (TWX 454) was traversing the Maharlika Highway and was about to take over another vehicle when it collided on the oncoming delivery truck being driven by Remedios around 3 a.m..

The victim died instantly while the bus driver identified as Sherwin Roman was injured in his left thigh.

Three other passengers of the truck and 14 bus passengers were also injured.

Police said charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and multiple physical injuries will be filed against the bus driver. – Arnell Ozaeta
