Woman tagged in stepfather's kidnapping arrested
BALANGA CITY , Philippines – A 20-year-old Chinese woman who allegedly masterminded the kidnapping of her own stepfather two years ago as well as her two accomplices were arrested separately in their hideouts in Tarlac City and Hermosa, Bataan the other day.
Senior Superintendent Arnold Gunnacao, newly designated Bataan police director, identified the suspects as Czarelle Sy, a resident of Chicago Tech, University Hills Subdivision, Caloocan City; Nichomedes Amar and his live-in partner, Marites Dayto, said to be a caretaker of the Sy family.
Gunnacao ordered the creation of a crack police team when an informant confirmed the presence of Amar and Dayto in a drinking spree in a fiesta celebration in Barangay Mandama.
Police operatives led by Chief Inspector Allan Rubi Macapagal, chief of the provincial police investigation branch, arrested the live-in partners in their relatives’ homes in Barangays Mandama and Culis, about three kilometers away.
During investigation, the live-in partners revealed that the mastermind in the kidnapping of Johnny Sy was his own stepdaughter Czarelle, who they said was hiding at Villa Sto. Niño in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Tarlac City.
Police found Sy resting in her rented room in the Tarlac City subdivision.
The three suspects had pending arrest warrants issued by Judge Adoracion Angeles of the Caloocan Regional Trial Court Branch 12l for kidnapping for ransom with no bail recommended.
