Police nab rob suspects

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna , Philippines  – Police arrested four primary suspects in the bloody robbery in band Saturday in Real, Quezon that left one dead, two wounded and carted away undetermined amount of cash.

Chief Superintendent Rolando Añonuevo, Calabarzon police director, identified the arrested suspects as Markdel Borromeo, 31, alias Del; Jim Mortel, 36; Jay Garcia, 24, alias Doy; and Robert Detalo, 18; alias Obet. Charges of robbery with homicide have been filed before the sala of the Real prosecutor’s office against the suspects. They are now locked up at the municipal jail .

Añonuevo said the suspects were on board a Raymund Line bus enroute to Laguna when Quezon police flagged the bus down at a police checkpoint at UP Llavac, Pac Base in Barangay Llavac, Real, Quezon, yesterday morning. During the searching operation, the police confiscated from the suspects one.357 caliber revolver, one converted .45 caliber pistol, a fan knife, three cellphones, assorted wallets and professional driver’s license of two victims.

According to Añonuevo, at about 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the victims – Marvin Castro, Sixto Saludes and Edgardo Sarsuela – were on board a van (PHL664) loaded with groceries and supplies and on their way to Sitio Capinpin, Barangay Bagong Silang, Real, Quezon, when four armed men blocked them. – Ed Amoroso
