2 held in Batangas over shabu chemical
Batangas , Philippines – Two persons were arrested after they were found in possession of a chemical used in making shabu, at a police checkpoint in Batangas City Monday afternoon, authorities said.
Superintendent Manuel Abu, Batangas City police chief, said the suspects, Alnajier Musa, 27, and Julie Kissae, 37, were flagged down along the national highway in Barangay Balagtas and lawmen grew suspicious due to a foul odor coming from their Hyundai Starex van.
A search of the van yielded seven wooden crates containing 20 bottles of thionyl chloride, a chemical used in making shabu.
The two suspects failed to show the necessary permits for the controlled substance.
Also found in the van were a small brown envelope containing suspected shabu and 10 plastic containers of acetone.
