-

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya , Philippines  – Four people were confirmed dead in yet another vehicular accident in Cagayan.

Road mishaps have already claimed the lives of at least 20 people in less than a week in the northern province.

Belated reports said the four fatalities were on their way to Tuguegarao City when the black Mitsubishi Lancer they were riding rammed into a passenger jeepney in Barangay Natanzan, Iguig town last Thursday night.

The fatalities were identified as Ryan Joy Danao, 27, the car’s driver; Lea Camille Nicolas, 20; Brylle Joe Perlas, 24; and Mark Anthony Bassig, 24, all of Tuguegarao City.

Police said the car’s fifth passenger, Arianne Joy Simangan, is still in critical condition.

Those aboard the passenger jeepney, including driver Edward Manuel, 25, only suffered bruises.

Last Monday, 15 jeepney passengers, mostly students and government workers, were killed when their vehicle rammed into a trailer truck in neighboring Piat town.       – Charlie Lagasca
