Man charged for slay try on Pangasinan poll executive

STA. MARIA, Pangasinan, Philippines – Police have filed frustrated murder charges against a suspect in the shooting of this town’s assistant election officer last Wednesday.

Superintendent Michael Nicolas, head of the Special Task Group formed to probe the attack on Juanito Villalba, said charges have been filed against Eusebio Ventura, 43, and a still unidentified accomplice.

Nicolas though said they are still looking into the motive behind the attempt on the life of Villalba, who was shot in the back with a caliber .45 pistol by two motorcycle-riding men. – Eva Visperas
