Tax amnesty for Laguna taxpayers launched
CALAMBA CITY, Laguna, Philippines – Here’s good news for delinquent taxpayers.
The local government in this town launched yesterday a tax amnesty program for real estate taxpayers until March 31, 2010.
The Sangguniang Lungsod ng Calamba has approved a resolution to grant tax break for owners of real properties.
Calamba City Mayor Joaquin ‘Jun’ Chipeco said real estate owners could now avail of the condonation of surcharges, interests and penalties. Chipeco said tax arrears can be paid in installment and five percent discount also apply when paying in installments.
According to City treasurer Liberty Toledo, if the taxpayer has arrears and unable to pay his property tax in full, he can still pay in installments. Toledo said payment of the first installments shall be paid upon execution of the compromise agreement between the taxpayers and the City Treasurer. – Ed Amoroso
