Foreign delegates start arriving for Asian Youth Day

- Evelyn Macairan -

MANILA, Philippines - Delegates from 22 countries have started to arrive in the country to participate in the Asian Youth Day (AYD) that would take place in Imus, Cavite next week.

The CBCPNews, the official news service provider of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), said that the Diocese of Imus, Cavite would host the Church activity.

The delegates would be coming from different Asian countries such as Laos, Korea, Taiwan, Mongolia, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Japan, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Macao and East Timor.

The 5th AYD is being organized by the youth desk of the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences (FABC) that would focus on the Eucharist.

CBCP-Commission on Youth Masbate Bishop Joel Baylon said the goal is to “renew Asian youth’s faith in and love for the Word of God and the Eucharist,” and to help them integrate these realities into their lives.

The delegates would be housed in foster homes and in retreat houses run by the religious congregations near the area.             – With Arnell Ozaeta
