VIGAN CITY , Philippines – The Vigan airport is set to partially reopen tomorrow after it was closed to air traffic last year for upgrading work.
This was learned from first district Rep. Ronald Singson who was responsible for the airport’s upgrade by sponsoring along with Deputy Speaker Eric Singson an appropriation measure for P350 million in the national budget.
He said that P250 million was initially released for the airport project while the P100 million balance is being awaited from Malacañang.
Upon completion of the project, the airport will be able to accommodate commercial and international flights, it was learned.
The airport’s partial reopening tomorrow will enable light planes to land, Singson, son of deputy National Security adviser Luis “Chavit” Singson, said.
He said that the rehabilitation of the airport will resume after the release of the awaited P100 million. – Teddy Molina
