Indian trader gunned down

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – A 36-year-old Indian trader was killed in an ambush by two motorcycle-riding armed men along Barangay Ermita, Balayan, Batangas, police report said.

Police said the slain businessman Daljit Singh, alias Allan, resident of Ma. Cristina Subdivision, Barangay Caloocan, Balayan, Batangas, was driving his Hyundai Getz sedan (ZRX-674) when his car was riddled with bullets by two suspected hired killers at around 6:55 a.m. Tuesday.

Several bystanders brought Singh to Madonna General Hospital, Balayan, but, died while being treated for to multiple gunshot wounds in the body. Probers said Singh’s killers fled on board a red motorcycle toward a highway in Balayan after the crime.

Police investigators said they are still conducting an investigation if the killing of Singh is work-related.

Records showed that Singh was the second Indian trader killed in an ambush in Batangas this year.

The police are still facing a blank wall in the killing of Dharminder Kumar, 38, who was shot dead by a lone gunman in Lipa City, Batangas.

Kumar was closing his RTW stall at the public market when he was shot from behind.  – Ed Amoroso
