Accord to restore Bulacan river inked

-

MARILAO, Bulacan, Philippines – Bulacan and Metro Manila officials signed a declaration of commitment to restore the Marilao-Meycauayan-Obando River System last Friday.

This came two years after the New York-based Blacksmith Institute named the river system as among the 30 dirtiest places in the world and more than a year after Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Lito Atienza declared it a Water Quality Management Area.

The declaration was signed by officials of Bulacan led by Gov. Joselito Mendoza and the cities of Valenzuela and Caloocan and Sen. Loren Legarda, who heads the Senate committee on climate change. – Dino Balabo
