Central Luzon cops get ready for 'Oplan Kaluluwa'
CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga , Philippines – At least 5,000 policemen and 20,000 multiplier forces will be fielded in Central Luzon as part of Oplan Kaluluwa 2009 of the regional police command.
Chief Superintendent Leon Nilo de la Cruz, regional police director, said the police personnel and multiplier forces such as barangay tanods, civilian volunteers and security guards would ensure the safety of the public going to their provinces and the cemeteries.
“Through Oplan Kaluluwa, we want to guarantee the safety of the public inside and outside cemeteries (and) in transportation terminals to make sure we achieve a zero-crime incidence,” he said.
De la Cruz said the police, in coordination with local government units, would deploy additional police personnel in cemeteries in the region to provide assistance to those who would be paying their respects to their deceased loved ones.
He said police assistance centers will be put up on all roads leading to cemeteries and major highways.
