Batangas, Philippines – A Bantay Dagat chairman was shot dead in Nasugbu town Tuesday night, three weeks after a fellow official, together with a nephew, was slain in San Juan town, police said.
Senior Superintendent Jesus Gatchalian, Batangas police director, said the victim, Santiago Dulay, 54, chairman of the Nasugbu Bantay Dagat, an anti-illegal fishing group, had just dropped a colleague and was cruising the road on his motorcycle when he was shot in the head with a caliber .45 pistol.
Last Sept. 9, Marcel de Chavez, 48, chairman of the San Juan Bantay Dagat, was gassing up his owner-type jeep in a gasoline station when he and his nephew, Roel Banog, 37, were gunned down. – Ed Amoroso, Arnell Ozaeta
