Engineer shot dead in traffic altercation

- Eva Visperas -

SUAL, Pangasinan, Philippines – A construction engineer working on a project at a resettlement site in Barangay Pangascasan was shot dead Friday afternoon by an unidentified suspect following a traffic altercation.

A report from the Sual Police Station through PO1 Raffy Garin showed the victim was Rodolfo Rivera, 50, project engineer of Frivos Construction Corp. and a native of Barangay Sagpat, San Manuel, Pangasinan.

Based on the initial police investigation, Rivera allegedly parked his vehicle on the road to converse with crew at the construction site, blocking the path of other motorists.

This reportedly irked the unidentified driver of a passing Ford Everest with plate number RGK-327, whose SUV was said to have been blocked by Rivera’s parked vehicle.

A heated argument ensued between the two that led the suspect to draw his gun.

Rivera sustained a gunshot wound in the head from a caliber .45 as evidenced by an empty shell recovered by the police at the crime scene.
