6 dead as truck slams into trike

COTABATO CITY, Philippines – Six commuters, including two teenagers, were killed while another was seriously injured when a speeding pickup truck whose driver was drunk rammed into an overloaded tricycle in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao yesterday.

Police are preparing charges against the truck driver whose identity has been withheld for fear that the relatives of the fatalities, five of them ethnic Maguindanaons, might retaliate. – John Unson
