MANILA, Philippines - The Supreme Court (SC) has upheld a Sandiganbayan order placing Rodriguez, Rizal Mayor Pedro Cuerpo under preventive suspension.
The SC’s Third Division said Cuerpo failed to “sufficiently show” that the anti-graft court committed any grave abuse of discretion.
On the contrary, the SC said the 60-day suspension order against Cuerpo “appears to be in accord with the facts” of the graft case filed against the mayor as well “applicable law and jurisprudence.” – Michael Punongbayan
