GMA cancels UP Mindanao visit over rally

DAVAO CITY , Philippines  – A rally by a small group of students forced President Arroyo to cancel her visit yesterday to UP Mindanao here where she was to lay the time capsule for the P3.5-million Biotechnology Complex Phase I project.

The President was supposed to proceed to UP Mindanao at around 1 p.m. yesterday after her engagement in Guihing, Davao del Sur where she led the formal opening of the long-delayed Guihing-Hagonoy Bridge.

However, the presence of at least 50 student protesters prompted security officials to advise the President not to proceed to UP Mindanao.  – Edith Regalado
