Tornado hurts 2 in Koronadal

KORONADAL CITY, Philippines – A freak tornado hit a barangay here Thursday hurting two persons, including a seven-year old boy, and destroyed 31 houses, a village official said yesterday.

Raul Aloot, chairman of Barangay Morales, said the tornado, which lasted for about 10 minutes, attacked Purok Spring village, about five kilometers away from the city proper here.

Citing a report reaching him yesterday, Aloot said those hurt were Leo Montano, 25, and Joey Bundon, seven, both residents of the said place.

The victims suffered wounds on their heads when the tornado lashed at their houses, Aloot said.

He said the roofs of 31 houses in the said purok were blown away as the whirlwind ripped through the said area.  – Ramil Bajo
