LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – Mayon Volcano billowed white smoke a few kilometers long yesterday morning, but the steaming was described as “weak.”
“The steam rising from the crater (and) forming a column was due to the fact that there was no strong wind blowing at the top of the volcano at that time,” said Helma Canon, a science researcher of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology based at the Ligñon Hill Observatory here.
