BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – Isabela is giving honor to two of its sons who served as honor guards during the funeral of former President Corazon Aquino early this month.
Isabela Vice Gov. Ramon Reyes said the province is honored that Isabelinos PO2 Danilo Malab and Army Pfc. Antonio Cadiente were given the privilege to serve as honor guards when Mrs. Aquino’s remains were brought from the Manila Cathedral to the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City.
Reyes said Gov. Grace Padaca has invited Malab, a criminology graduate of Saint Ferdinand’s College in the capital town of Ilagan, and Cadiente to personally receive the citations and cash incentives in today’s flag-raising rites at the provincial capitol.
“It is with great pride that we in the provincial government give recognition to their outstanding accomplishment in accompanying the remains of Mrs. Aquino to her final resting place,” Reyes said.
Malab and Cadiente, who hail from the Isabela towns of Echague and Aurora, respectively, have had their share of commendations, together with fellow honor guards Airman Second Class Elmer Laguindam and Navy Petty Officer II Edgardo Rodriguez.
