MANILA, Philippines - Eleven people were killed and 16 others sustained injuries in separate road accidents in Cavite and Davao City the other day, police said.
Seven of the fatalities and three of those hurt were recorded in Gen. Trias, Cavite when a passenger jeepney rammed into a tractor along the national highway Wednesday night.
Police identified five of the fatalities as Jocelyn Emolaga, Francesca Agacan, John Vernon Agacan, Aderliza Capilo, and jeepney driver Carmelo Borbe.
Wounded were Roxanne del Mundo, Moises Luaton and Mon Brian Agacan who were all rushed to the Divine Grace Hospital in Rosario town. Del Mundo was later transferred to the Manila Orthopedic Hospital.
In Davao City, a collision between a passenger jeepney and an Isuzu truck in Tugbok district Wednesday morning left four people, including a seven-year-old girl, dead and 13 others injured.
Police identified the fatalities as Eliza Perez, 29, and her daughter Fiona, seven; Gino Paulo Fuentes, 17; and Benjamin Rosalina, 74.
Reports said the jeepney was cruising the national highway in Barangay Los Amigos, Tugbok district when it smashed into the truck. – Arnell Ozaeta, Ed Amoroso, Edith Regalado and Cecille Suerte Felipe
