ALABEL, Sarangani, Philippines – A wife of a town police chief was robbed and hurt by still unidentified armed men while on her way home Thursday night here.
Police on duty PO1 Walbert Gallinero of Alabel Police Station identified the victim as Maria Jesusa Romualdo, 36, a resident of Alphine Village here and a wife of Senior Inspector Roy Romualdo, the police chief of coastal Glan town, Sarangani.
Gallinero said that about 10:30 p.m. the victim who came from work in General Santos City disembarked from a habal-habal motorcycle and walked going to their house, which is located 20 meters away.
But the victim, Gallinero said was unaware that there were armed men posting in the dark portion of the street who blocked her way and took her bag containing P560,000 and two cellular phones.
However, before taking away the money the fleeing suspects also gripped the victim’s neck using her own scarf and stabbed her abdomen using an ice pick, which caused her to be still unconscious in the hospital in Gen. Santos City.
Gallinero said the victim, who is also a non-uniformed personnel of the mountainous Police Regional Office 12 in Barangay Tambler, Gen. Santos City, was discovered lying in the street by her neighbors who brought her to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Gallinero and their command are getting some leads as to who the perpetrators are, but they have yet to divulge to the media, saying “the victim’s activity was already patterned by the suspects.”
Gallinero also clarified that he cannot give details why the victim was carrying such big amount at that time.
