Luzon illegal recruiters arrested in Caraga

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – Cabadbaran police early dawn on Sunday rescued a 19-year-old girl from the hands of suspected illegal recruiters at Baiding Garden Pensionne Hauz in Barangay 10, Cabadbaran City, the Caraga Police Office here in their report said.

The police identified the suspects as Prescilla Cahola Ertelo, 42, a native of Pangasinan but residing in Metro Manila; and Christine Virginia Plaza, 20, companion of Ertelo, while the victim was identified as Ajellen Amora, 19, single, resident of RAM Compound, Barangay Telesfora, Tubay, Agusan del Norte.

Charges of anti-human trafficking (RA 9208) has been filed against the two suspects, the police said. Under the said law, no bail for the temporary liberty of the illegal recruiters was granted since the victim is a minor.

Cabadbaran police said initial investigation showed they received information that an ongoing illegal recruitment activity was taking place of which they immediately responded and subsequently rescued the victim. – Ben Serrano
