NPAs torch construction firm's equipment

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – New People’s Army (NPA) guerrillas torched the heavy equipment of a private engineering company in Presentacion, Camarines Sur over the weekend for its failure to pay “revolutionary taxes,” police said.

Inspector Payn Natuel, public information officer of the regional police, said the insurgents swooped down on the compound of the Megay Construction Co. and set a bulldozer, two dump trucks, a payloader and a backhoe on fire.

Natuel said the rebels led by a certain Domingo Rodriguez had demanded P6 million from the construction firm. – Celso Amo
