Isabela police chief in road mishap dies

ILAGAN, Isabela, Philippines – The police chief of Alicia town died over the weekend after nearly five days in coma due to head injuries he sustained in a road accident.    

Senior Superintendent Jimmy Rivera, provincial police director, said Chief Inspector Andres Bali Jr. reportedly lost control of his motorcycle after it hit a warning device in an construction site, causing him to slam into a truck along the national highway in Cauayan City Monday night.

Bali was reportedly airlifted to a Manila hospital in efforts to revive him a day after the incident but to no avail. – Charlie Lagasca
