MANILA, Philippines - A magnitude 5.2 earthquake rocked parts of Central Luzon and Metro Manila yesterday morning but there were no reports of damage or casualties, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs director Renato Solidum said the quake struck at 9:06 a.m. with its epicenter traced at 46 kilometers southwest of Iba, Zambales.
Solidum said the tremor was felt at Intensity 3 in Olongapo, Subic and Iba in Zambales and Intensity 2 in Quezon City, Ortigas, Pasig City and Makati City.
He said the quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of six kilometers, adding that aftershocks are expected. – Helen Flores
