Optometrist arrested for wife's killing

LUCENA CITY, Philppines – After a year of hiding from lawmen, the prime suspect to his wife’s killing was nabbed by policemen in Naga City, on Thursday.

Erlie Gerry Cabral, an optometrist, suspect in the murder of his wife, Teresa was arrested at home by policemen from Lucena together with members of the National Bureau of Investigation and Naga police at around 5 p.m.   

Police Superintendent Genaro Ylagan said that victim (Teresa) was found by her relatives in their house at San Miguel Villa San Pablo, Ibabang Iyam bathed in blood after she was allegedly killed by her husband with 25 stab wounds in different parts of her body.

Police investigation showed that a heated argument ensued between the couple that led to the victim’s killing.

By virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Romeo Villanueva, Branch 59 dated May 15, 2009, the operating team from Lucena PNP led by Senior Police Officer 4 Johhny Escalderon and Police Officer 3 Ronaldo Cabana arrested Cabral. – Michelle Zoleta
