CABANATUAN CITY, Philippines – Malacañang has stopped the provincial board of Nueva Ecija from carrying out its order suspending the mayor of Cabiao town for 90 days in connection with the grave misconduct case filed against her by her councilors.
In a two-page order signed by Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita dated May 14, a copy of which was obtained by The STAR yesterday, the Office of the President stayed the implementation of the board’s resolution suspending Cabiao Mayor Abundia Garcia.
The Palace acted on Garcia’s appeal with prayer for a stay order on the board’s action.
Garcia has also filed a complaint before the Office of the President against Vice Gov. Edward Thomas Joson and eight provincial board members who she accused of railroading the hearing on her case. – Manny Galvez
