Another Isabela village head slain

ILAGAN, Isabela, Philippines – A village head in Angadanan town was gunned down during a community event Friday morning, the fourth barangay captain slain in Isabela this year and the 12th in Cagayan Valley in the past two years.

Police said the attacker of Edgardo Dugay, chairman of Barangay Calabayan-Minanga, went unnoticed as he took advantage of the crowd.

The man shot Dugay but hit tanod Mauricio Altaran in the abdomen. He, however, pursued Dugay, shooting him several times until he collapsed.

Both Dugay and Altaran were declared dead on arrival at the hospital. – Charlie Lagasca
