BATANGAS, Philippines – A 38-year-old former barangay councilman was gunned down in San Jose town last Sunday afternoon, police said.
The attack on Romeo Atienza, former official of Barangay Aguila, also left a 12-year-old girl dead after she was hit by a stray bullet.
Chief Inspector Manuel Castillo, San Jose police chief, said motorcycle-riding men poked a caliber .45 pistol at Atienza in front of his house, but he managed to run to his sister’s house where he was cornered and shot several times.
