KORONADAL CITY, Philippines – A homemade bomb exploded in a house in a remote village in President Quirino, Sultan Kudarat Wednesday morning, killing a farmer.
Reports reaching The STAR said farmer Robin Patyag, 39, died on the spot when the improvised explosive device prematurely went off inside his house in Barangay Bagumbayan.
Patyag, according to reports, were headed home together with his fellow farmers when he found the explosive near a cemetery.
Patyag brought the bomb home thinking that he could sell it to a junkshop for some cash.
Patyag reportedly placed the bomb near his wooden bed and then took a rest, and a few minutes later, it exploded.
Police investigators were still checking if the bomb was hidden in the area by the lawless faction of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, now the subject of manhunt operations by government troops.
