Meycauayan anti-crime head killed

MANILA, Philippines – The head of Meycauayan City’s anti-crime task force was killed in an ambush by three gunmen while on his way to City Hall Monday morning.

Senior Superintendent Allen Bantolo, Bulacan police director, said investigators were looking into the political angle as the victim, Danilo Lancero, 58, was a political leader of former mayor Eduardo Alarilla, husband of incumbent Mayor Joan Alarilla.

“I have ordered the Meycauayan police to speed up the investigation,” said Bantolo, who personally met with Meycauayan police officials during the case conference the other day. – Cecille Suerte Felipe, Dino Balabo
